Red Sky is recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced General Manager to lead operations at Bristol Airport. The role requires a strong, strategic leader with a minimum of 5 years of people management experience at General Manager level, ideally in a high-pressure, customer-focused environment.
Role Purpose
To oversee the effective and profitable delivery of services at Bristol Airport, with a focus on customer excellence and strong operational control. The General Manager will lead both PRM and Cobus operations in line with strategic business objectives, maintain relationships with key stakeholders, and ensure compliance with all service level agreements and standards.
Key Responsibilities
Operational
- Provide 24/7 on-call support for operational issues, including threat assessment and incident response.
- Maintain effective shift patterns and ensure adequate staffing levels.
- Monitor service quality and take corrective action where standards fall short.
- Uphold the company's image across uniforms, vehicles, and all public interactions.
- Cover shifts for direct reports when required.
- Be proficient in company systems (AvTech, Power BI, Microsoft Office).
- Resolve passenger and customer complaints efficiently.
- Ensure all operational equipment is functional and deployed.
Engagement
- Build and maintain strong relationships with airlines, ground handlers, and partners.
- Actively attend airport and airline meetings to present service performance.
- Facilitate effective communication across all stakeholder groups at the airport.
Reporting
- Produce weekly and monthly reports detailing operations, complaints, incidents, and staff absence.
- Deliver CAA (ECAC) quality data and Power BI performance analysis.
- Investigate and report on all service incidents and delays.
Processes & Compliance
- Ensure full adherence to airport procedures, safety standards, and legal requirements.
- Maintain vehicle and equipment servicing schedules.
- Conduct and record regular audits via SharePoint.
- Report all incidents through the company's safety reporting system.
People Management
- Lead, manage, and monitor a large team to deliver high service standards.
- Drive staff performance, manage absences, and ensure effective rostering.
- Apply structured performance management and staff development processes.
- Maintain a strong meeting cadence with the management team focused on service delivery and performance.
Health & Safety
- Uphold and continuously improve health and safety standards across the site.
- Report deficiencies and escalate risks appropriately.
- Ensure correct use of PPE and compliance with training.
- Support investigations and reporting of health, safety, and environmental issues.
Required Experience and Skills
- Minimum 5 years of senior-level people management, ideally in aviation or a similar operational environment.
- Minimum 2 years in a management role.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Right to work in the UK.
- Must pass a DBS check and provide 5 years of referencing.
- Must be over 18 years of age.
