Appointed Person - Civils

Location: Birmingham or London

Salary: £45,000 - £50,000 + excellent benefits

Contract: Permanent, full-time (Monday-Friday, office & site based)

Red Sky Personnel are working with a leading Tier 1 civil engineering and building contractor, renowned for delivering major infrastructure and construction projects across the UK and Ireland. We are looking for an experienced Appointed Person (Civils) to join their team, taking responsibility for planning and supervising lifting operations across complex civil engineering works.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-established contractor in a stable, permanent position, working on high-profile projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare lift plans and method statements for complex heavy civils operations (bridges, structures, utilities, infrastructure).
• Assess site conditions, lifting requirements, and equipment to deliver safe, efficient solutions.
• Coordinate with project managers, site teams, crane operators, and lifting supervisors to ensure successful operations.
• Carry out detailed risk assessments in line with LOLER, PUWER, BS7121, CDM, and HSE requirements.
• Provide expert technical advice on lifting operations to engineers and site management.
• Maintain accurate records, permits, and documentation for all lifting activities.
• Ensure lifting teams are fully competent, briefed, and compliant with project and legal standards.

   

Requirements

• CPCS/NPORS Appointed Person (Lifting Operations) certification.
• Strong background in heavy civils lifting operations.
• In-depth knowledge of LOLER, PUWER, BS7121, and CDM regulations.
• Proven track record of producing lift plans and method statements for large-scale projects.
• Excellent coordination, communication, and leadership skills.
• Strong organisational skills with high attention to detail.
